I’ve always been drawn to poppies, not only because they’re the flower of remembrance, but also because I was born close to Remembrance Day. Growing up one of my earliest memories is being at a Remembrance Day ceremony. Bright colours stay with you, I guess.

My very first large oil painting at 15 yrs old was a field of poppies, and the first perennial plant I grew in my own garden was a poppy. I like poppies and I like painting them. Especially painting them impressionistically.

This was inspired as I camped along the banks of the Dumoine River for DRAW 2025. Painted on location,
Each night, I watched my tent glow a soft light blue, like the colour of the daytime sky, glowing against the deep cerulean blue of night. Surrounded by forest and the sound of moving water, it felt peaceful in the depth of the trees. That moment stayed with me.
I’ve been painting full-time since 2005. This is a small selection of my work found in private, corporate, and public art collections
